He's Here!

Hey y'all, I have a really good excuse for being MIA the past couple of weeks. A really really good excuse.

If you didn't already know, we have a baby!

Jaxon was born May 10 at 7:12 AM . He weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce and was 22 inches long. He's the most amazing thing I've ever seen -and definitely the most amazing thing I've ever done- in my life.

JD and I are in awe of the blessing that he is and we still have a hard time believing that he's really ours to keep forever.

I want to be able to devote a little more time to his birth story than I have right now but hopefully I'll be able to come back soon to share it. And maybe a few more pictures :-)

I Shall Call Him Squishy

And he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy!

But, you know, only as a nickname. When the mood strikes. Since he's obviously going to be quite squishy, being that his weight was estimated to be 9 pounds, 12 ounces yesterday! Oy.

I've debated whether or not to reveal the bug's name on the blog but in the end, JD and I couldn't really think of a valid reason not to. Even though I still call my husband JD (which is just his initials, not what he actually goes by), I've decided to reveal our son's name. Part of it, I'll admit, has to do with the fact that I'm too lazy to come up with an appropriately cute/clever nickname for him that will be relevant for the next however many years I decide to blog.

So, without further rambling, his name will be...

Jaxon Abbott

When we're not calling him Squishy, that is.

(I mean, really. Look at those smooshable cheeks and kissable lips! Hands down the most beautiful face I've ever seen. Even if those 3D pictures do make babies look like aliens, he's my squishy alien and I love him to bits.)

My Fairy Tale - Bridals

With my last post, I began the story of our wedding with the proposal story and engagement pictures and now I'll share some of my bridal pictures. I had so much fun taking these. It was the second time in my life (after my senior portraits) that a photo shoot was all about me and I had a blast playing model for a day. My photographer was amazing and it's so crazy to think that she'll be taking newborn pictures for us in a few weeks! My only regret about my bridal shoot is that we forgot to take any pictures with my veil on, but I'm still happy with the way they turned out and I'm so glad I was able to experience that day!
