So, I gave y'all a break from baby talk with my last post but I'm back at it again today! :-) I had my final shower this past Sunday and it was amazing. It was held at my sister-in-law's house and some of JD's family helped put it together. There was an animal theme and it was seriously one of the cutest showers I've ever been to- not that I'm biased or anything!
Here are some shots of the entry table with the diaper cake that JD's sister made. How cute is that?? I thought she bought it somewhere and was so impressed when I realized that she did it herself. The party favors were animal shaped cookie cutters. They were so cute the guests had trouble picking out which one they wanted to take!
Here's the yummy food table. The hostesses were awesome about making sure there were plenty of things I could eat while on my diet. So thoughtful of them!
I was completely blown away by the amount of presents we received! I wish I would've taken a picture of it all piled up when we got home but I was so eager to get everything put away that I completely forgot to do it. But believe me when I say we have one extremely loved and blessed little boy!
This bank from my grandparents makes me giggle! They live in Missouri and couldn't make it in for the shower but they made sure to send a sweet present for the bug. The bank is an elephant and you put coins in the tip of the trunk and watch them squiggle down into the bank (elephant's tummy). They sent a note for us to put our leftover change in it at the end of the day and start saving for the boy's college :-)
This was another gift sent by a family member who couldn't make it, one of my sisters. She sent a box FULL of stuff but I just had to get a picture with this cute bag. I love love love monogrammed baby items!
The hostesses had the most wonderful idea I've ever heard for a shower. They requested that instead of a card, each guest bring a book and sign the inside of it! That way we got a great start on the bug's library and now we'll have their sweet little notes that we can read to him when we read the books!
I kept looking for cards or tags saying who the gifts were from and people kept telling me to check inside the book. I thought how wonderful it was that everyone knew me so well that they knew I'd love to get books for him, and was wondering how everyone except me knew about this trick of signing the books! I was probably on my sixth present before someone clued me in on the secret. I never would have figured it out on my own! I am so slow to catch onto things!
Here's the stack of reading goodies we received. So amazing! It was seriously one of my favorite parts of the day.
My sweet sister-in-law drove all the way from Texas to be with us that day! It meant the world to me to have her there and I hope we can visit again soon.
And here's the cake! I had to include several pictures so y'all could get the full effect. It was amazing. The animals on the cake perfectly matched the ones on the plates and napkins. My sister-in-law got it from a lady who does cakes out of her house and I know where I'll be going when it's time for the bug's first birthday cake! She's so talented!
Since I can't have cake right now, my sweet mother-in-law insisted on freezing a piece of it so I could have it after the baby's born! She said if people do it for weddings, why not do it for babies? :-)
JD and my dad snuck over before and after the shower to visit and see the decorations and help pack up the HUGE load of gifts. Here they're chatting on my sis-in-law's beautiful front porch.
I think that about wraps it up. It was such a blessing to be able to see everyone who came. I love life events like this because it gives everyone an excuse to get together and catch up! Now I just need to finish organizing everything we have so I can see what we have too much or not enough of and get to returning/shopping.
Happy Friday and I hope y'all have a lovely weekend!

You look absolutely gorgeous and glowing. Looks like such a fun shower. For a baby shower I was invited to recently, we did the same thing- asked each guest to sign the inside of a book instead of a card.
