I guess after three years of marriage I shouldn't be considered a newlywed anymore, but I like to think JD and I will be "forever newlyweds" (as cheesy as that may be). I am so blessed to be able to share life with such an amazing man and we are loving every minute of being parents to our first lovebug, Jaxon, who was born May 10th!
We live a good distance from our family and friends, and I started this blog as a way to keep them updated on our life but it has turned into so much more than that. I absolutely adore the friends and sense of community I've gained through the wonderful world of blogging. If you're new around here, feel free to say hi!
I don't know about y'all, but this whole royal fairy tale wedding thing has me feeling more than a little nostalgic over my own wedding. And I realized my wedding is a big life event that I've never really documented on my blog. So I figured today would be the perfect day to begin sharing some of our story!
I already shared the story of how we met here, so now I'll start with the proposal (copied from our wedding website) and a few engagement pictures, and go from there. If we're friends IRL or on Facebook, you might have seen/heard all of this already but just humor a sentimental pregnant sap- or skip these posts if you'd like ;-)
We were on vacation a few days before Christmas in New York (edited to add: the date was December 22, 2007). The whole trip was an absolute dream but obviously our engagement night was the highlight. We had dinner at a cute little sushi restaurant, saw Mama Mia at the Winter Garden Theater and then wandered around NYC for a while. We ended up at the top of the Empire State Building around 12:45 am and after a while were the last people up there. Right before closing, Jeff dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. I didn't see the ring at first and thought he was messing with me (which he had done before) so I rolled my eyes and told him to shut up! Then I saw my AMAZING ring and slowly realized he was serious and of course said yes! As soon as he put the ring on my finger it started snowing, like something straight out of a movie. That was the only time on our trip it snowed so we like to think of it as a confirmation that we're meant to be together. He tries to say I teared up but I keep telling him it was just snow getting in my eyes ;-) The whole night couln't have been any more perfect for us and he couldn't be any more perfect for me!
I hope Will and Kate enjoy being married as much as JD and I have!
