Randoms

I seem to be all about the random posts lately. Ah well, such is my life right now. (If you don't read through the whole thing, please at least read #5... especially if you're a mommy!)

1. We've had a few really fun family functions the last few weeks. First, we celebrated JD's grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary. I love that we have such wonderful role models in our family. 60 years together is a long time to enjoy the one you love! So precious. Our next event was his cousin's engagement party (pics below), and then we had my sister's 50 birthday party. Crazy, right? My mom was 42 when she had me and I have half-siblings from both my mom and dad so my family has always been a bit different. I wouldn't have it any other way, though! It was so nice to have excuses to see both of our families since we live so far out and don't get to see everyone very often.

JD and his wonderful dad:

He is not a fan of my car pictures (and I'm actually not a fan of myself in this one), but he cracks me up with that face:

2. I've also had some quality time with my friend Erin. She's graduating from dental school this May and then moving to Dallas. Waaaaah! I'm so sad she's leaving me. She lives in New Orleans so it's a bit of a drive for us to hang out but we're trying to squeeze in as much time together as possible before she goes.

She spent a Saturday with me and we shopped, got frozen yogurt, watched a movie and did our nails... basically a perfect girly day. Then this past Saturday, she took a little road trip with me to Alabama to order the lovebug's baby bedding and visit the Gulfport outlet mall. Another fabulous day! It's been a while since I've had some good girl time so these days were perfect.

Here's a peek at the bedding fabric. I can't wait for y'all to see the finished product! Actually, I can't wait to see it either, since I've only seen pictures so far. It's hard to see the colors in the picture but the two solids are navy and light blue and they're both minky fabric... soooo incredibly soft and cuddly!

3. Confession: I'm actually a little disappointed in my House of Harlow necklace (from my last post). I knew that since it's made of abalone the actual necklace I got would vary from the picture, but the colors in the one I received are just not as vivid as I imagined. They're paler and almost washed-out. And there's not even much blue in it, which I was looking forward to. Too bad it's a non-returnable item from Gilt. I guess that's what I get for impulse shopping like that! I know I'll still use it, I'm just not head over heels about it the way I thought I would be. Bummer.

4. I'm trying to decide whether or not to keep my belly button piercing. I got a flexible pregnancy ring/bar thing but it still gets caught on clothes more easily now that my belly pokes out so much. I've had the ring for 12 years (got it when I was 16!) so by this point it almost feels like an extension of me and I'd miss it if it were gone, but JD has always hated it and thinks I should just take it out. Man, I hate making decisions! Have any of you kept body piercings through a pregnancy? Thoughts?

5. We're registering for baby stuff this weekend! I can't decide if it has me feeling more excited or overwhelmed. There are just SO many options out there! If any of you mamas (or daddies?) have particular brands you love or products you can't live without, I'd love to hear about them!

Pretty much the only thing we've decided on for sure is this travel system by Chicco:

Anyhoo, I think that about covers today's randomness! Hope y'all have had a fabulous week. Thank heavens it's Friday!

I LOVE Halo Sleep Sacks. They are a little pricey, but worth every penny. Laura has slept in one every night since she came home from the hospital!

You and I are exactly the same for #4! Actually last night I was asking my husband what I should do about it, he really didn't give me a good answer. My mom wants me to take it out. I am just afraid that the holes will look so gross if I take it out. I have also had mine since I was 16 (13 years). Decisions decisions....I almost just want me doctor to give me the official take it out or keep it in.

Not a mommy by any means, but all of my mommy friends who have the Bumbo love it and swear by it.

LOVE the travel system! B and I are really into the gray/yellow combo right now. We're re-doing our office in those colors and the pack n' play I found is also yellow and gray. So cute!

P.S. Your belly is getting so adorable!

I would say ditch the belly button ring as well :) I actually have had mine pierced since I was 18. When we started trying to conceive I decided it was time to take it out. The holes are still there, but they really don't look that bad - especially now that my belly button is starting to become non-existent. Hehe! Good choice on the travel system. We have that same one, just in the miro print. Love it so far - the true test will come when we can start using it in a couple months! The seat is so easy to detach from base. It was all easy to put together and the stroller is not huge and clunky. Take care hun!

Adorable baby carrier, it looks great to me and from what I read I think it might be easier for you to take the ring out of your belly, just so you don't have to deal with it later as your tummy gets bigger. Would it be super painful for it to be pierced again? No fun but hope you can figure out what to do.

Also - bummer about the Guilt necklace, I hate it when that happens!

Glad you have had some fun times with your friend Erin. I had a girl's night with one of my friends yesterday (movie, pedi, diner) and we had a blast. Love girl's days.

Oh, and last - super funny picture. BK would never let me take up close pics so at least you get a silly one, lol.

Happy V-day tomorrow! xo!

I never have, but my bff has/had her belly button pierced. I would say that if you think it will be too difficult to remove later, then remove it now; you can always re-pierce it later. ? Just don't feel pressured to get rid of the belly button ring if it's something you love, and something that isn't harmful to you/baby!

we couldn't live without a sound machine for sleep, halo sleep sacks, aden + anais swaddle blankets, and lots of sweet little gowns for baby to sleep in. I'll try to think of some more.

I really wish we had gotten an itzbeen time & a video monitor!

I took out my belly button ring when I was pregnant and don't miss one bit!
