Leftover Valentine (Eye) Candy

I'd planned on posting this yesterday but my blog background was messed up for half of the day so I decided to wait until it was fixed. I apologize to anyone who stopped by and saw the craziness!

It's been a while since I shared things that are making me happy (besides my wonderful husband and sweet boy on the way, of course) so I thought I'd do a little post on that.

JD and I don't usually celebrate Valentine's Day. It's partly because we don't really see the point of it when we let each other know every day how much we love and appreciate the other, and partly because it's hard to plan anything during baseball season (for those of you who don't know, he's a high school coach).

But he completely surprised me yesterday when he sent these tulips to me at work. Tulips are my faaavorite. He included a stuffed monkey with the flowers and at first I was wondering what he thought I was going to do with a stuffed animal, until I read the card and realized it was "for our son." Awwwwww! I'll go ahead and admit that I teared up when I read the card but I'm going to blame that on the hormones ;-)

Something else that's making me happy is the thought of getting this cuff bracelet from Tiffany's as my push present. I want to get the babe's initials engraved on the inside, which will mean even more to me since they'll be the same as JD's initials. Although we've talked about it, I'm not sure if JD really plans to get me a push present so I've decided if he doesn't, I'll just get it for myself! And anyway, getting myself an expensive (or at least expensive for me) piece of jewelry or clothing is on my 30 Before 30 list, so I could kill two birds with one stone! (You can check out the tab at the top of the page if you're not familiar with my list.)

I have been swooning over this Fenton Ruffle Bowl for months. I had it on a Christmas wishlist I made and I've stalked it many times since then. Since it's from etsy, I would always hold my breath a little before I'd click on the link, hoping no one else had snatched it up. I finally decided last week that I should just get it already! It arrived yesterday and is perfect. I'll probably keep it on my desk with little candies in it.

And last, since there's a good chance that it'll be a while before we're able to take another vacation the way we love to do (thanks to the lovebug), I've been enjoying pictures and memories from the ones we have been able to take. We've been so blessed to be able to visit all the places we've been together: California, NYC (twice), DC, Jamaica, Disney World, Vegas, Seattle and Canada, along with other smaller trips. Here are just a few of my favorite pictures from some of those trips.

Lazing in Laguna Beach:

Strolling in Victoria, Canada:

Hiking in Olympic National Park (so peaceful):

Hiking at Mount Rainier (breathtaking):

Honeymooning in Jamaica:

Now it's your turn! What did you do for Valentine's Day (if you celebrate it) and/or what's something that's making you happy these days?

I was feeling so miserably under the weather yesterday, I couldn't make it to the store to get what I needed to cook a nice Valentine's dinner. I figured we'd just order a pizza and call it a day. Hubby surprised me with my FAVORITE take-out kabobs! So sweet!

So glad you had a great Valentines day. I remember my last valentines day with the hubby before kids. I hope you soaked it up. :)

Love your updates! And your belly is sooooo CUTE! EEE! Love it.

So the "push present"...I've never heard of that. Is it your reward for pushing baby out? LOL! That's all I can think of that makes sense.

Our travel plans (the way we like to do it too) will be put on hold for a bit as well. But, we are already planning a trip to Washington D.C for a long weekend next year and Buenos Aries in 2013. Not sure if the little one will come with us or not:-) We made a pact that we would try to do a trip in the US every other year and a trip overseas on the opposite years. Before we conceived we did a 7 country tour to Germany and Eastern Europe and a trip to NYC.

As for Valentine's we don't celebrate. The hubs does something special for me every day (cooking dinner, laundry, etc) and I try to do something too...we have tried VDay before and it just seems so contrived and forced to us, to each their own...But I have to say when I saw your twitter about the flowers and monkey I was so excited for you! JD is going to be an awesome dad!

I'm so happy that I finally found the Urban Decay Naked pallete today! I've been stalking that thing for months!

Yesterday was low key for us. We went out to eat & had Mexican, and then took Cooper to eat some ice cream. It was a nice night.

Happy belated Valentine's Day, friend!
