A Pensive Post

So, there's this thing I knew I wanted at some point in the future but was completely content not having just yet.

Then one day, I was told there's a possibility I may not ever be able to have one.

Now that I know that, I want it so badly it's basically all I can think about.

Funny how that happens, isn't it?

Mocha Club

I just tweeted about this but for those of you who have no use for Twitter, I wanted to post it here too. This has been on my heart for quite a while and I'm ashamed that I'm just now getting around to actually doing it.

I first heard about Mocha Club at a Dave Barnes concert several years back and I'd think about it off and on but never took the time to join. I'm so glad I'm finally doing it.

It's similar to other organizations who support needs in struggling countries, but it has a little different twist. The cost per month is the approximate price of two mochas: $7 (although you can give more if you'd like). This amount is less than the cost of many other organizations, but the idea is for you to spread the word to your friends and family and get as many people as you can to join with you.

I'm not at all trying to pressure anyone into joining, I just wanted to get the word out in case any of you are interested. There's so much need and suffering in the world, sometimes I feel completely overwhelmed and helpless in the face of it all but I figure every little bit helps. If we all did just a little and encouraged others to do the same, we could make a real difference!

The site does a much better job of explaining the mission of Mocha Club so go here if you're interested in joining my team, or here if you just want the home page. You can pick from 5 different projects (including clean water and education). The one I chose supports orphan care and vulnerable children. If another one of the projects grabs your heart, you can start your own team to support that project instead! If you have time, click on the "I Need Africa" link and read the story. It had me in tears the first time I read it.

One of my favorite quotes is: "Live simply so that others may simply live." I don't remember who said that but it has stuck with me over time.

Check out the site and let me know what you think!

Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!
